Ann MacDonald, M.Mus., Founding Director

Ann MacDonald Bellingham Sings Ann MacDonald is Founding Director of Bellingham Sings, an intensive choral/vocal training and performance program for Whatcom and Skagit County singers and choristers. For the past seven years, she has been devoted to developing both choral and vocal music in Bellingham. During this time, Ms. MacDonald has also been active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician in both Canada and the United States.

Ms. MacDonald has been active in music education since 1987 and has taught elementary through college level. She has extensive experience in vocal jazz studies, singing and teaching with Grammy nominee arranger and educator Phil Mattson.

Ann earned her bachelor‘s degree in Voice Performance with high honors from The Boston Conservatory and her master’s degree in Choral Conducting with highest honors from the University of Arizona, under the direction of Dr. Maurice Skones. For the past several years, Ms. MacDonald has both observed and taken classes in post-graduate choral studies at the University of Washington and Western Washington University. She is a recent graduate of the 3 Year Somatic Studies Program through to Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.

Dr. Timothy M. Black, Artistic Dir. – Allegra Women’s Ensemble

Tim Black, Allegra Women's Ensemble Bellingham SingsDr. Timothy M. Black is a 24-year, career music educator, having taught choral and instrumental music at all levels, K-12 and college in Washington State, Idaho, Kentucky, and for 12 years in Okinawa, Japan for the U.S. Department of Defense Schools.

Dr. Black received his B.A. in Music Education from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, a M.M. in Choral Conducting from UMKC’s Conservatory of Music with Dr. Eph Ehly and a D.M.A. in Music Education from Boston University.

Tim has been choral director of the Bellingham Community Chorus since 2015 and directs music at the United Church of Ferndale. He approaches his new role as artistic director of Allegra Women’s Ensemble with much energy and excitement!

Hadassah McGill, Asst. Director and Accompanist

Hadassah McGillBellingham native Hadassah McGill has been a serious part of the local and regional music scene for over ten years. She has worked with Western Washington University, Bellingham Sings, Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth, Mount Baker Theatre, Bellingham Theatre Guild, and numerous soloists. Hadassah credits Tim Fitzpatrick and Justin Wisness as her most influential music teachers.
